Subject: Oni-con of 2008

Location: George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston

Comments and Overview of my visit: Oni-con, this year at least, was very poorly organized, very late and delayed, but that is besides the point (the dealer's room, by the way, was not in its own room); it was still pretty fun to attend. I cosplayed as Kaito from Vocaloids, and to my surprise (and to the rest of my group that cosplayed Meiko, Rin, Neru, and Liku who are also from Vocaloids) there were 3 other Kaitos, 4 other Mikus, 3 other Rins, and 2 other Lens. Which makes 4 Kaoitos, 5 Mikus, 3 Rins, and 3 Lens. All but 2 or 3 of us did a group picture on the second floor in front of the Christmas tree (in front of Starbucks) on Saturday. It was amazing; I must have had more pictures taken than then the rest of the year. xD We also did a walk-on (just my group) on stage. :3 It was pretty fun.

Meanwhile, during the night on Friday and Saturday we also held these "cheering fests", as i guess one could call it, although we just said it was a big, fun party. It started with us original 5 Vocaloids from my group to about 30-40 people at its peak on Saturday. Hey, I could be over or under estimating the numbers; I can't estimate groups of people! There was one person who invited all of us to join a group called "Psyche Productions", but the link to his website didn't work. Or maybe I just didn't remember it. And there was also another cool guy who took pictures of us and he said to search "Onicon 2008" @ Deviantart, but it seems he hasn't uploaded them yet (as of the posting of this journal).

Today in the morning I also found a place to buy Newtype Mags for a very very very very cheap price. It was epic. I even got the e-mail of the dude to buy the rest of the serialization if I wanted it.

Afterthoughts:

1> I want to befriend the guys who did the Phoenix Wright skit this year (they did the Tsubasa skit last year) Since I've already met them now. With luck, we will see them again this year.

2> I need to buy practicing weapons to practice for larp.
3> Never ever let the girls put nail polish and makeup on my face ever, ever again.
4> Onicon needs to sell more Vocaloid stuff. I found 2 Vocaloid Doujins and a few Nenderoid figures that were really expensive, but that was it. I bought the Kaoito doujin.


Well, that's about it about my Oni con trip this year. If i remember anything else/I want to add something, I'll update this.
